Printing Greeting Cards
Duplex Printer, Half Page (One Fold)
When printing pretty much any document on a duplex printer, the way it normally prints out, assuming standard folds is:
Landscape mode, single fold (half page card)
Left Half | Right Half | |
---|---|---|
Page 1 | Front of card | Back of card |
Page 2 | Inside right (upside down!) | Inside left (upside down!) |
Quarter Page Cards (Non-Duplex) (Two Folds)
For quarter page cards (where you fold a single page of paper twice), you don't need a duplex printer because of the way you can fold the card. For example, assuming you want a standard greeting card, with the height greater than the width, consider the below diagram(s) of a single page split into quadrants
Crease on Top
Left Half | Right Half | |
---|---|---|
Top Half | Front of card (Upside down!) | Back of card (upside down!) |
Bottom Half | Inside left | Inside right |
Since I often use this format, I created a template file that you can stick in Canva, or any other editor. This file includes just the fold lines, whereas this file includes both the fold lines and text that shows you which quadrant corresponds to each part of the card.
Or (if you fold other way)...
Left Half | Right Half | |
---|---|---|
Top Half | Inside Right (Upside down!) | Inside left (upside down!) |
Bottom Half | Back of card | Front of card |
Crease on Bottom
Left Half | Right Half | |
---|---|---|
Top Half | Back of Card | Front of Card |
Bottom Half | Inside right (upside down!) | Inside left (upside down!) |
Or, (if you fold other way)...
Left Half | Right Half | |
---|---|---|
Top Half | Inside Left | Inside Right |
Bottom Half | Front of card (Upside down!) | Back of card (Upside down!) |
